Since early childhood, I have been fascinated by portraiture and people-watching! It has been a goal of mine to be able to paint portraits on silk for many years, but only over the past three years do I feel that I am beginning to master the techniques necessary. These techniques of tiny brush strokes and much layering have helped when I have returned to floral painting, enabling my work to take a much more botanical feel. Again I am inspired by certain people I visit on my travels, and local friends. My aim is to capture the character of my subjects, giving the viewer an insight into who they may be.
